Keynote Speakers

Kirsten Perry, 2018 National School Counselor of the Year
Kirsten is a Pre-K-8 school counselor at Lawndale Community Academy in Chicago, Illinois.  In her role, Perry has focused on improving student attendance, implementing restorative justice and providing college and career readiness.  In less than 3 years, Kirsten has developed best practices and collaborative partnerships that have helped elevate Lawndale Academy out of academic distress and improve its ranking to the highest it has ever been within the Chicago Public Schools system. Please read her story: https://https://www.schoolcounselor.org/magazine/blogs/march-april-2018/building-a-community

Paul Harris, Ph.D., ASCA Board of Director
Paul had served as a school counselor at the high school level for 8 years before becoming a Counselor Educator at the University of Virginia.   Harris is a nationally known speaker who focuses on promoting equity, access, and justice to create culturally competent school counseling programs based on best practices.  His passion is to serve people, especially underrepresented and historically marginalized groups.
